See Bird, 2016

The See Bird  series is based on mirrored ink drawings of common murres (seabirds), that died of starvation and washed up in unprecedented numbers along the California coast in the summer of 2015. Local researchers suspect their deaths are related to warming waters that drove their prey to cooler, unreachable depths. This series of cyanotypes, as a form of ritual transformation and reanimation, became a way for me to come to process these events.
