Depends How You Look At It (Rodeo Beach, CA), 2013
Depends How You Look At It (Rodeo Beach, CA) is comprised of two 44″ x 88″ vertical panels displayed next to each other. The right-hand panel is a rendering of the foaming ocean as it hits the shore, as viewed from above the waves, and the left-hand panel is the same image but mirrored and tonally inverted, as if the foam was being viewed from beneath the waves. It visually explores the sky/ocean boundary creating an inverted parallax view with one eye above, and one eye submerged. What new forms and imaginings might emerge as our bilateral bodies and pattern seeking minds linger in this liminal zone?
Exhibited at An Lanntair, Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, UK.
