Haleidoscope, 2012
This interpretation of a kaleidoscope was made from hand-shaped oak salvaged from the Fear Not, a decommissioned fishing boat from the Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. Atlantic sea salt was used to grow the salt crystals for the viewing chamber. The clear chamber allows a multi-reflected image of the view on the other side of the kaleidoscope through the filter of the crystalline sea salt, creating a mediated luminous internal/external composite image .
Shown at Tent Gallery in Edinburgh, UK as part of Active InTent, and An Lanntair, Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, UK, as part of Impress 8.
