Merry Meal of Maritime Miscellany, 2011

Merry Meal of Maritime Miscellany, took place on September 11, 2011 in the coastal village of Thorpeness in Suffolk, UK. It was a one day art/ocean/seafood fringe event I organised in Thorpeness, England as part of the region’s annual local Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival. I worked in collaboration with an artisanal fisherman, a local chef and baker, a wild plant forager, a historian researching regional fishermen sweater patterns, eight local artists, and the local Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The event included installations by an artist working with ocean plastics, archival footage screening, a meal of local foraged plants and sustainably sourced seafoods, foraging walks, and various presentations.
